I always feel like I didn’t appreciate the departed person enough while they were living. I have learned so many wonderful things about her after her death that I didn’t know before. As a former elementary school librarian, I so appreciated Dolly’s Imagination Library and all the books sent to so many kids. There was so much more than just the music and big…hair.

Dolly's unsolicited congratulatory note to Eminem after an awards show was the epitome of class and human compassion. It obviously meant something to him as well, as he posted it after her passing. RIP legend.
One of my favorite moments in the many and various appreciations and commemorations to Dolly Parton over the last week, is a clip of Dolly singing Vac-cine, vac-cine, vac-cee-ine to the tune of "Jolene." I believe that the vax version of "Jolene" was a promotion during COVID-19.

Okay now I'll be pondering why some famous people 'kick us in the gut' when they die and 'what do they have that we crave?' A very good question indeed. Perhaps we wish we could aspire to their unique gifts? Or adopt a bit that grace, generosity, soulfulness, humor, "Dolly" essence, etc.?
