CHICAGO — I’ve found the flickering wick of journalism. It graces the top of Tribune Tower in downtown Chicago, old Gothic place that catches the light funny. At night, it looks like a candle struggling to stay lit.
Much like journalism.
Yet, lit it is. The U.S. flag flies high and mighty over this jewel of the Midwest. At night, you expect movie ghosts to circle Tribune Tower, chased by Bill Murray.
I’ve landed back in Chicago for the first time in a year. Nice bed at the Hyatt. When I sleep, my nose is inches from the mini-fridge. When the room gets stuffy, as corporate suites do, I just crack the mini-fridge door.
Ahhhhhhh! Oxygen! Refrigerent!
