Thank you, once again, for the twice weekly reminders that the little ($7 a bottle) joys in life are what matter and that if you are lucky enough to have a loving family, you have everything you need. Each of us is living a life at least one other somebody would trade for in a heartbeat. You always remind us how precious it is, especially with the Little Ones and pups in it. Loved this one.

Hi Schwartzy. You are such a good person. You didn't even mention that I quoted you. Also, good point on trading lives. Best when we focus on what we have instead of what we don't, right?

Hi, Chris. Well, actually, you were quoting yourself! I did love what you said to me directly and I am pleased you recognized that your pearls of wisdom deserved to be shared with all. I was surprised to hear you spent even a moment thinking about what you might lack. That's what made me think that was ironic because I am sure many, many people would trade places with you in a heartbeat. Really an important reminder for myself and everyone, too. Thank you. Love, Schwartzy

"Sam". Another nice name for a girl. I think so anyway.

Mazel Tov! One can never have too many grandchildren. I love your upbeat look at life. Keep writing and posting great photos.

Great article, Commish, particularly your advice to Charlie, and to us - next time, skip the kids and go straight to the grandkids!!! Man that would have saved Lynda and I a bundle!! BB

I suggest getting the Ferrari first at 50 you won’t be able to get in or out if it.

And the funny thing is, you don’t get any of this until you’re there. I’ve stopped trying to tell future grandparents about the incredible joy they have ahead, but it’s like great Chicago pizza or nawlins gumbo, until you taste it, it just can’t be explained. And when you get there, it takes over your life. Thanks for your continued celebration of these little monkeys.

Hi Kenny. We're the same guy. Is there anything better than a smoky gumbo? If so, maybe it's deep-dish pizza on a snowy Chicago night. Certainly, grandkids are the reward we get for all the little things we did for our own kids. As you say, though, there is no explaining it.

Don’t forget grandma Miss Susie, Charlie!

Thought you out to know I once had a dog whose name was Charlie, a boy dog. He was a Heinz (57 flavors) resembled a Beagle, but black & tan.

He was the best athlete on our block. When my gang divided up to play touch football, the team that chose Charlie always won. He’d grab the ball in his mouth, weave his way through all the opposition and celebrate his TD by chewing on the ball!

Charlie was the Champion Athlete of South Mariposa St, Burbank, California ‼️

Family and friends are everything. And though the world may be a scam at times , we surely all succumb to it

Congratulations on the new grand baby girl Charlie! I knew something was wrong with yesterday and then discovered I hadn't read my Wednesday post! Your post a reminder to remember what's precious!

...and in my way of seeing, you have meanings in existence right. Love, family and friends, visual art, literature, music, nature--all of the arts and their pleasures

The list of what billions can't buy may be longer than what they can. Plus, you already have (and share) most of what's on the important list.

Chris Erskine's avatar

Exactly, Stan. What's that old line? "I have something that a billionaire can never have. Enough."

Love it!
